Old Coot has evolved from an idea of two friends and surfers, John McIntyre and Philip Tutty. As a result of many years of surfing and reaching mid-life, John and Phil identified a number surfing needs for themselves and their mates. At the same time they highlighted a gap in the market that seems to have been ignored amongst the rad, slash and burn of the mainstream surf industry. Old Coot is not trailblazing new technologies, but rather introducing useful products to an ageing baby boomer market.

John and Phil initially developed the Old Coot Surf Essentials Kit and have added custom designed boards delivered to your door, as well as a growing selection of other products including surf guides, T-shirts.

Why Old Coot? Fundamentally, it's about not taking yourself or your surfing too seriously. It's about fun regardless of your age. Old Coot captures the needs of surfers who want a bit more comfort, are keen to stay active, and want to remain contemporary and do so without being judged.

John and Phil are applying their business skills and their practical experience as surfers and customers of surfing products and services, to re-invent the traditional surf retail approach to an on-line environment.
